Guitar Hero III bundles priced for Australia

Xbox 360 and PS3 Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock bundles--which include the game and wireless guitar--to retail for A$169.95 ($137) in Australia. Wii version clocks in at A$159.95.

With Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock set to shred on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, the Wii, and the PlayStation 2 in only a couple of months' time, Activision has revealed just how much Aussie gamers will need to have saved up to get their hands on the game and their brand-new Gibson guitar controllers.

The PS3 and 360 bundles of the game--which will ship with a copy of Guitar Hero III and the new wireless controllers--will set people back A$169.95. The Wii bundle will cost A$159.95. The PS2 bundle of Guitar Hero III--which also comes with a wireless controller--will cost A$149.95.

Extra wireless guitars will cost A$79.95 each (for PS3, 360, and the Wii). Activision will also sell the game as a separate item for PS2 and 360 owners. The stand-alone PS2 and 360 Guitar Hero III will cost A$69.95 and A$89.95, respectively.

By comparison, the bundled packs of Guitar Hero II for the PS2 and the 360 originally retailed for A$149.95 and A$159.95, respectively. Both those bundles came packaged with wired guitar controllers.

Don't you love these people in the US, saying how screwed over we are?

Geez, that's about half of what you spend for a real guitar, Go buy a real guitar .

After some quick conversion, that has the PS3/360 bundle at about $139, the Wii bundle at about $131, and the PS2 bundle at about $123. A wireless guitar for the PS3/360/Wii cost about $65. The standalone game for PS2 cost about $57, and the standalone game for the 360 cost about $76. Won't cost that much here, stuff is overpriced outside of the US.

Side note, Guitar Hero II cost about $123 for the PS2 bundle, and about $131 for the 360 bundle. So make your comparisons to the US prices, and that should help compare to how much the Guitar Hero III stuff will cost in the US.

So the bundle costs for PS2 is $149.95 and seperately its costs $69.95 for the game +$79.95 for the guitar =$149.90. So can you price match the seperate game and guitar against the bundle to save 5c at a store?

Every time a news article comes out with Australian prices, most of the comments, mostly from Americans, revolve around the price.
Firstly, you must realise that these prices are in AUD. Then, convert to U.S dollars. Still seems expensive? Here's why:
Australia has a different standard of living and generally earn higher wages with a higher minimum wage too. This means that almost everything is more expensive, in relation to the exchange rate, in Australia than it is in America. So even though items may appear more expensive (when viewed in terms of the exchange rate), in reality, we are paying more for items but also being paid more for our work. This means that Australian prices are fairly close to the American equivalent, even if it doesn't seem so on the currency exchange.
    Now you know.

Jeez, talking about pushing the price to it's limits. Thankfully I only need the game. I'd say purchase the guitar hero 2 bundle for $99.95 and JB then pick up the game separately. You'll get an extra game for the same price pretty much. Unless the hardcore fans want the... new.. guitar.

to everyone whining about the "high" prices.... go look at a freaking currency converter before you post. it will make you look like less of a fool.

    according to:
    http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic
which was found simply by typing "currency converter" into google and took less than a minute to use,

    A$169.95 = U$140.04
    A$159.95 = U$131.80
    A$149.95 = U$123.56
    A$89.95 = U$74.12
    A$79.95 = U$65.88
    A$69.95 = U$57.64

so basically it's gonna be the same price as the GH1 and GH2 bundles were... quit whining.

Will the PS3 guitars be compatible with the PS2 versions of GH1 & 2. If not they can stick it and I'll wait for Rock Band.

  • S2333

    Posted Aug 29, 2007 12:43 am PT

    Hmm...considering their wireless.
I'll think about it, I'll need 2 guitars though.
I'm going to have to get a better paying job.

No way I'm paying that, I got GH 2 for my 360 for $120, $170 is a complete rip off.

what im hanging out for is an adapter so i can hook up my ps2 guitar to the ps3

  • IC3_MAST3R

    Posted Aug 28, 2007 11:48 pm PT

If you convert that to US dollars that would be around $130USD for the PS3 & 360 version which is far too much money to pay for a game even if it comes with a wireless guitar.

  • Mace_Windu91

    Posted Aug 28, 2007 11:35 pm PT

i'm willing to pay that considering all the hours i'm gonna spend playing this game on my Wii XD

MOHSniper15, our conversion was high a few years ago (our dollar was worth $0.50 in 2000) but now our dollar is worth 85c US. Our prices need to come down, since our prices have not changed since our dollar rose.

Also, in general our prices are double that of the US (i.e. PS2 games were $100, ect) even though our conversion isn't.

It certainly beats Rock Band's insane $250 price tag and delay until 2008.

its only gonna be 89.99 at gamestop,,,,,i pre ordered it!!!!!!! and a guitar is 59.99(all that is for ps2) xbox 360 and ps3 is 99.99 and wii is also 89.99 all of those are bundles...

Jeez, what's the conversion rate for US$ to A$? It must be high, because those prices alone are high.
