Nintendo has updated its Wii firmware, with changes to the shopping channel, menu, and accomplishments.

The new features are as follows: The time is now displayed on the menu in LCD style, the weather channel now shows the current weather conditions on its channel icon, the news channel similarly displays top stories on its submenu, and today's accomplishments is now white instead of looking like a normal message (yellow).

The shopping channel has also been upgraded with a new front page with a selection of recommended titles, highlights on the announcement messages and the Wii Points item at the bottom of the screen, and new ways to find virtual console games to download--text searching, browsing by publisher, and popular downloads.

To update the Wii's firmware manually, connect the console to the Internet and select "Wii System Update" from the "Wii System Settings." To see which firmware is currently running, check the numbers at the top right corner on the first page of the "Wii System Settings."
