Amazing Bundle. $70 for so many games is even worth it if you already own some. If getting versions of Quake, Doom, and Hexen that run on modern computers wasn't enough, this package basically breathed new life into the Multiplayer, specifically Quake III, as in you can actually find a Team Arena Server now. Get the Super Pack if you haven't already.

I can't believe this, what a great product Steam is. It makes it so much better to have them through one program & it also makes you buy the game as well (Most likely with a discount) so more money can go back into developing new games.

Man Steam has been amazing since day one and it just keeps getting better. I purchased the whole ID Pack and am currently walking down memory lane playing Commander Keen. I love it!

Great news - I'm looking forward to Commander Keen again!

Steam has a good selection of games available now. It also means no finding CDs and stuff every time I want to play something. If I have a choice between buying physical disks and buying from steam, steam tends to win...

VALVe have really hit their target now. It's about time the larger developers started self-publishing, and steam is a good step towards that (although in some ways Valve is now a publisher as well... my head hurts...).

And how awesum would it be if valve added wolfenstein enemy terratories free to every steam account? I think that would see sheetloads of use.

lol I bought the entire pack yesterday, I had one problem with hexen and doom and the other oldies, dosbox was messing up, but after a restart of the ol' compy they worked fine. Great collection (even if I already had one or two of the titles).

I bought Quake for $10 of Steam. Absolutely incredible... The guy complaining about Quake being too expensive is wrong...

I'm guessing Quake 4 will come next year and there will be a sale on that one when it comes too, there are probably some licensing issues as of yet and I know that for the new games they have to set-it-up with Valve on how to release any continuing path efforts. They may wait till next year when they don't have to support it and then release it. Then again they WANT you to buy the super pack but also want you to buy Quake 4 in the future so maybe they will wait a month and shoot it out the door to at $40, to blind-side everyone. Ultimately this was coming down to id's last option since they stated they had "lost" (misplaced) so much money from piracy... Steam is probably one of the most user-friendly interfaces, even for some higher dial-up users and it has only occasionally done something wrong which a quick call up to tech fixed within 24 hours... Not to sound like a fanboy but I would suggest to buy all games on Steam from now on, or hopefully wait a little for them to come out on Steam. Also I know some were turned off because of EA's crappy system that stated it was like Steam but, please look at Steam for itself... It is nothing like the MyEA crap and never will be. Though Valve and id have gotten greedy along with others (Blizzard) in the past years their games are still not suffering from it... Yet

I got the super pack a couple hours after it came out. They run pretty well since it uses DOSBox.

For the complaints on the prices, yes they're pretty high for old, but great, games. I think the idea is to make you buy the packs, all of which are a steal.

for Doom compatability on a modern computer, you really should get a source port such as ZDoom (http://zdoom.org). runs great in windows and gives you access to tons and tons of user-made mods and maps. believe it or not, the Doom mod and map community is still very active.

Well if I can get the two Quake expansions to run I might buy them (I have them but the cds are so old and messed up they don't work). I think that is really cool. I don't like digital downloads and avoid it at all costs (only digital dloads I have are XBLA games and VC games). Either way, it is a good thing.

For those wondering about compatibility, I've tried Doom and Commander Keen so far and they both come with DosBox and use that to run in Windows. I had no problems on Vista with it, so if you guys can run DosBox you should have no problem running these games.

I only wish they had done this with X-Com instead of writing an XP-only windows port.

It seems pretty ironic that both companies, who were at each other's neck in 2004, with Valve bringing out the excellent Half-Life 2 and id's visual revolution Doom3, have now come in terms to promote each other's properties.

Think about it, you can purchase the entire Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, and Half-Life series all on Steam for roughly $30-40. Steam is getting better and better by the day.

This i nothing major, ive got all the Doom games. I prefare some of the Q3 standalone mods and Wolf's best bit is Enemy Territory which is free.

Pretty cool, except I'm a little curious why certain things aren't bundled together, and why things are as much as they are.

What's weird is that Doom II and the Master Levels are separate purchases, each $10 each, yet they come in a bundle together for $10. Why not just put them both together in the first place for $10. That's a lot of content there, and I could see that being $10, but Ultimate Doom for $10? Try $5 Valve.

Doom 3 for $20 (With Resurrection of Evil for $10)? Okay, I can totally understand that. That's a good deal. Also, they list Arena and Team Arena as two separate packages in Steam ($20 each) yet they come bundled for $20. Just like Doom II and the Master Levels, why not just put them together in the first place?

Quake II for $10? Okay. Final Doom for $10? Okay, but having Ultimate Doom and Quake for $10 each is just ridiculous. Maybe if they put Quake with it's mission packs then I can live with $10. Then you take Quake 2 and you put the mission packs together for $15.

These prices are just over the top for games as old as these. Maybe after all the hardcore idiots buy them for their stupid prices, then they'll be smart and drop them to a reasonable level.
