Phoenix Wright 4 for the DS, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, and Monster Hunter Freedom 2 have all helped Osaka-based Capcom to overachieve against last year's first financial quarter, the company announced in its quarterly sales report.

The company's first fiscal quarter--which ended on June 30--saw net sales increase to 14.3 billion yen (approx $120 million), up 35 percent from the same period last year. Operating income increased to 2 billion yen ($17 million), up 57 percent, and net income was 1.1 billion yen ($8 million), up 40 percent.

The company amended its consolidated earnings forecast for the first six months of its financial 2007 after the good news. Net sales are now expected to be 30.4 billion yen ($256 million), up 3.6 percent on the original forecast; operating income is set for 2.4 billion yen ($20 million), up 60 percent; and net income is set for 1.4 billion yen ($11.8 million), up 80 percent.

However, due to the "continuous weak performance" of its arcade-business arm, the company did not revise its estimates for the full financial year.
