Aussie game charts: July 2-July 8

This week's chart topper is a blast from the past.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown for the Nintendo DS has taken out the week's top spot in the overall game charts, according to data trackers GfK. Ice Age 2 hasn't appeared in the Aussie game charts since April 2006, when it was released. A GfK spokesperson told GameSpot AU that the surprise number-one showing is due to a price drop as a result of recent stock-take sales going on at the moment.

Nintendo DS gems Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl dropped from first and second place last week to land in third and fifth, respectively. Transformers: The Game for the PlayStation 2 grabbed sixth spot after only a week of sales.

In other chart news, The Sims 2 and various The Sims 2 expansion packs took out eight out of the top 10 positions available in the PC charts.
