PC gaming isn't dead, and neither are those who want to celebrate it. The CMP Game Group--organizers of the Game Developers Conference, Austin Game Developers Conference, and a host of other industry conventions--today announced its first open-to-the-public show, PC Game On.

Set to take place September 8 and 9 at the Austin Convention Center in downtown Austin, Texas, PC Game On will offer gamers tournaments, conference-style sessions, and a chance to go hands on with upcoming titles using top-of-the-line hardware. A significant portion of that hardware will likely bear the mark of the event's founding sponsors, Dell and Alienware.

According to a CMP representative, "The show celebrates PC gaming as the crucible of innovation, as the place where most game developers get their start, as the driver of digital distribution and [massively multiplayer online games] and virtual worlds, and all that exciting stuff."

PC Game On will be held in the same venue as this year's Austin Game Developers Conference (formerly the Austin Game Conference) on the weekend immediately following the trade-only online-focused show. It will run from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with admission set at $25.
