With a new feature film based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand set to arrive in theaters March 20, now would be the perfect time for the series' fondly remembered four-player arcade beat-'em-up to debut on Xbox Live. But with the TMNT license in the hands of Ubisoft (who's working on a new Turtles game of its own for multiple platforms), and the arcade game having been developed by Konami, a port of the game appearing on any system seemed unlikely at best.

However, today Ubisoft officially announced that the publisher had come to terms with Konami and arranged for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game to arrive on Xbox Live Arcade by the end of the month. Developed by Digital Eclipse (also responsible for numerous Live Arcade games including Contra, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3), the Ninja Turtles game will feature the original's seven levels, voice chat capability, and online or offline cooperative multiplayer for up to four gamers.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be available for 400 Microsoft Points ($5) when it arrives on the Xbox Live Arcade.
