Aussie game charts: February 19-25

Final Fantasy XII douses The Burning Crusade; Crackdown, Supreme Commander have solid debuts.

The Burning Crusade's reign at the top of the Australian game charts has ended. Final Fantasy XII--the newest chapter in one of gaming's most revered role-playing series--has pushed the denizens of Azeroth out of the number one position in sales charts down under.

Despite already being available in Japan and the US for several months, Final Fantasy XII was released in Australia only on February 22, and its impact on the charts for the week of February 19 to February 25 was immediate. Longtime number one The Burning Crusade was forced to settle for fourth spot this week, behind strong newcomers Crackdown for the Xbox 360 and Supreme Commander for the PC, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Nintendo Wii made a comeback this week, landing at fifth spot to be Nintendo's sole representative in the overall sales charts. The strong debut of Final Fantasy XII, Crackdown, and Supreme Commander pushed out some recent top 10 fixtures, including Gears of War and Lost Planet for the Xbox 360, and WarioWare: Smooth Moves for the Wii.
