Sims 3, next-gen Black, new SimCity & LOTR coming

Megapublisher announces several new games, pushes Army of Two and Crysis to the post-Q1 2007 calendar year.

As part of its earnings announcement today, megapublisher Electronic Arts revealed the release window of two of its highest-profile games. Crysis, Crytek's hotly anticipated PC shooter, and Army of Two, the co-op actioner for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will now both arrive after the end of EA's current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2007.

"We have made some adjustments to our SKU plan that will move a couple of titles into fiscal 2008, specifically Army of Two and Crysis," EA chief financial officer Warren Jenson told analysts during a postearnings conference call.

During the same call, Jenson also confirmed that several sequels to EA's most important franchises are in the works. "Yes, there's a Sims 3 in development and it's likely to be a fiscal '09 title," said Jenson, meaning the game would hit stores before April 2009. The executive also confirmed that the Sims franchise will also be coming to two next-generation platforms--the Wii and the PlayStation 3. [EDITOR'S NOTE: Contrary to original reports, a Sims 3 Holiday Edition for PS3 was not announced. GameSpot regrets the error.]

Several other new titles were unveiled during the call. "There will be another Lord of the Rings [game]... There's a new SimCity game in the pipeline and the next-generation version of Black. Those things alone are all new, relative to fiscal '07," said Jenson. It was unclear whether Jenson meant the games would arrive before the end of EA's 2007 fiscal year, or were just new to the company's financial plan for the 12-month period.

    was waiting on that the 2 best things EA ever made NCAA football and BLACK If its anything like the first one on the current consoles ps3 or xbox360 it doesnt matter it is going to SICK!!!!

    I thoroughly enjoyed Black from start to finish. It's easily amongst the best-looking PS2 games of all time. I played through it once more even when I first bought my PS3. If the original shined so brightly on PS2, I expect a visual tour-de-force from Black 2 & absolutely nothing less.

    i bought a xbox 360 because games stopped coming out for xbox n now my all time favorite game is coming out for ps3( i understand ) but wii is the most **** thing ever esp. the graphics ............... so im am pissed the **** off i did not pay close to 500 for the xbox 360 ( a few months after it came out) for the sims not 2 come out for it

    Brandon you're right. I stopped playing SimCity 4 because it was awful and started playing SimCity 3 again. I hope Maxis can do a better job with this one because I do have faith in them. Now with the Sims 3, I can't wait to see the new announcement

    Will wright respects good controls schemes for his games, and they need good control schemes. PC has M+K, PS3 has M+K support, and the Wii has the wii mote which works just as good as a mouse. 360 . . . . it has a big white hunk of bird crap with two little moveable black spots. dont get me wrong, i like the 360 controller, i own one!!! But I just felt like being a little demeaning considering I dislike 360 the most. Just makes me love will Wright even more *relaxed sigh* ^^

    This is ridiculous, the Sims not on the Xbox 360? But instead put in on the Wii and the PS3. ............Wright has something against Xbox 360 owners

    Ohhh.............. My.............. Gosh!.... (I respect god a lil too much for that) A Black 2!!??? damn if they can just make a good story out of it this time and more utter destruction then it'll be right up there with halo 3 and gears of war! Then a new SimCity tooo!!???? The day that game comes out will mark the end of my life. As for Lord of the Rings.... it was good as a movie trilogy and nothing more, I've seen too many butchered LOTR titles to play them now -__-

    I've been a great fan of The Sims since it came to consoles, but the SIms 3 is gonna be awesome! (Would get it on my PC, but lets just say my PC aint really good) Can't wait!

    Awesome the first black was good but the storyline was lacking somewhat. also the destructibility is awesome and if it improves it will be a great game I hope
