Assassin's Creed not PS3 exclusive

Ubisoft's medieval stealth game will not be limited to Sony's upcoming system; will eventually reach PC, says publisher.

"What is the meaning of life?" "How does Dick Clark stay looking so young?" "Is Assassin's Creed a PlayStation 3 exclusive?" One of these lingering questions has finally been answered today, and unfortunately for the philosophers and elderly out there, it's the latter.

Reports on the Internet have been nothing less than rampant on the state of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. Initially mentioned for the Xbox 360 as Project Assassin and then mentioned only for the PlayStation 3 (without the word "exclusive") at E3 2006, the answer of the game's ultimate platform destinations have been as stealthy as its sneaky protagonist.

The latest info comes from sites pointing toward magazine PC Gamer UK, which recently said that a PC version was in the works. No mention was made of the rumored Xbox 360 version.

At last, Ubisoft has shed some light on the subject, but still stays mum on the game headed to Microsoft's console.

A rep from the publisher told GameSpot, "Assassin's Creed PC will indeed see the light some day. Details will be provided at a later date."

Assassin's Creed is due in 2007 for the PS3; no date was given for the PC version. For more on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

    I say it's stupid to sell a game thats exclusive to a certain console as the game makers wont earn as much cash and heck if games weren't exclusive we wouldn't have all this fanboy crap flying around.

    Finally!!! yeees!!! A PC version, this is great,Let`s Party. I was willing to buy a X360 or PS3 just for this game, no more saving up for the game let`s partyyyyyyyy.Anyway this game is bound to be the best game of 2007 and many years to come.

    Ok, NO, I didn't forget them. I did accidentally leave off Metriod, but the constant Zelda delays have killed my love for the game. I wouldn't be surprised if they said it's no longer on the Cube, it's now on the Wii. As for SS, playing against real people is what makes that game truely fun. But Nintendo has IGNORED online connectivity. I have a Cube, bought the network adapter, and jerry-rigged it up to my PC to play online through Xlink. But nobody's there to PLAY.

    Xbox Live is what gives Xbox the edge. And thankfully MS has expanded on Live 100 fold with the 360. Plus the cost is down to less than $4 a month.

    While Sony's online product will be free, we'll have to wait and see what "free" gets us. I know I've bought many a PS2 games with online connectivity and the only one with truly good online play is Socom.

    Ah the intellect of the farm animal is quite something. The news is great for gaming and as I have said many times before, this gen is much closer than the last where PS2 really did have it over Xbox in terms of titles, despite the Xbox being more powerful. I would dare to go as far as saying the shoe is on the other foot, now the 360 has more of a share of it's exclusives than PS3.
    Assassins Creed was one of the hottest games at E3, and seeing it come cross-platform, as expected, is fantastic and only makes me happier that I decided to get my 360.

    Whether or not the game is coming to the 360 has no real relevence to me, my comment was made towards 2 guys whose comments lacked any logical thought behind them. The game could go to the Wii and I would feel the same. I like my 360, but I am not against the PS3, but I am against the $600 price tag..too high for general mass acceptance (and Sony's arrogance, but I have to learn to turn a (quite often) deaf ear I suppose)..

    However, if anything YOU sound like a SONY fanboy who ise upset their game is no longer "exclusive"...

    Personally I wouldn't care if every game was cross platform. The games go where they go, it's only the people who boast and brag that bother me. The more people that get to play a good game, the better.

    I for one am glad for any goo looking game fhat goes to the 360. My comment would've been the same had it been an awesome looking Wii game. (Well I do dislike Sonys arrogant attitude, but that's the way they are)..

    Of course if I am "such the fanboy" I wouldn't still have my Ps2, but you have it in your mind so nothing I say will change that..

    Anyway, try to learn to not act the way you are accusing people of acting..makes you look like less of a hypocrite.

    No, _Rockstar_ said that it would be released on the 360 and PS3 at the same time. M$ tried to make it seem that GTAIV was going to be 360-exclusive.

    The very first time anyone saw Assassins Creed was at the Microsoft X05 Trade Show last year, when Peter Moore of Microsoft announced the game for the Xbox 360, using the name Project Assassins. I bet we will see Assassins Creed officially announced--maybe using that name--for the Xbox 360 at the Microsoft X06 Trade Show this month. That would make perfect sense.

    And ill wait to see some gameplay footage instead of rendered videos before i even think of buying this game, at the minute it just looks like a Prince Of Persia rip off. =)

    Hopefully they are just waiting to announce the 360 version until after the PS3 launches. I'm sure sony paid them some money to keep it quiet to help build excitement for their system cause what other games get people excited for PS3? MGS4? Give me a break, that series has gone on too long. Hey Ubisoft, bring Assassins to 360!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    i love how the stupid half of the PS3 supporters claims the 360 cant handle it, when IT WAS SHOWN ON 360 OVER A YEAR AGO, not to mention the rumors that it was running on a 360 at E3. how can you guys vouch for the power of a system that isnt even out yet while discrediting a system that hasnt been put to the test yet in the same breath? I'm not gonna sit here and say its definitly coming to 360, even tho i personally beleive it is. but if you seriously think that 360 is that weak, u are obviously heavily biased, and have blinded yourself because of hype. end of story

    I DID read the posts and replied accordingly. Nice of you to single me out though. I really appreciate that. So he calls the other board members poor bastards and you're on my case about it. There was no "misreading" his inital post that I replied to. I paraphrased it almost word for word. So that makes my comments silly, and his are ok?

    I am well aware that gamers have gotten older (I am one myself if you had read MY post). I WAS watching the 360 packages. (You are aware you are talking to me like I am an idiot right? I don't appreciate that.) Being older doesn't automatically mean "buy more expensive console". There is a big difference between the $300 and $600 price points of this gen and next gen.

    The past few generations of consoles have launched at or near the $300 price point. This is the first time (well aside from the 3DO and NEO GEO) that a major console has launched at such a high price point.

    I am also aware the launch allocation of the PS3 will sell out, regardless of price. There have very few launches where the console DIDN'T sell out. I had a friend selling some of the launch day 360s on eBay, so yes I am well aware of how much they went for.

    Just fyi, I don't go around widly criticizing anyone on the boards. Had he NOT called anyone who wasn't able to afford the PS3 (the reason didn't matter obviously) a poor bastard, I would have simply restated my earlier comment that Assassins Creed is more than likely heading to the 360, and I would've restated that his comment of it "only gonna be on PS3" had no logic behind his statement. That would've been it.

    But I responded to his crude name calling, and YOU are saying MY comments are silly.

    And just fyi, I never said the PS3 wouldn't sell, but I HAVE always stated that the real test comes after the initial launch hoopla subsides. I still say the $600 price tag is too high for mass acceptance (if you think the PS3 will have the PS2 numbers until it comes WAY down in price I think you might be mistaken). Nice of you to more or less say his calling everyone "poor bastards" is ok (well not outright, but since you are calling my comments "silly" and you said nothing of his comment, I can only assume you are ok with what he said).

    I don't know who this Incubus dude is, but he's wrong on just about every point he makes. His biggest error is claiming that no one bought GTA for the Xbox. In fact, the GTA 2-pack they released was a bestseller on the Xbox. From his comment that he doesn't know anyone who bought it, it seems that he only made this claim on anecdotal evidense based on his own group of friends. He also says "thank God [the next GTA] is coming to the PS3 first." This is also incorrect. At E3, M$ stated very clearly that the next GTA would be released on both the 360 and PS3 at the same time.

    Next time, before ranting and flaming people, at least get your facts straight. Because without the facts, there's really nothing else interesting about your juvenile posts.

    And please don't criticize kids on this board because they are younger than you are. That's what this website is for. Mostly a younger audience. Although, one thing you should know is that gamers have gotten older over the years and can afford more; .i.e. PS3! All you had to do was watch the 360 game packages going for $900-$1400 on ebay during the first month. Statistical trends show this. So, if you can't aford it. Oh, well. Millions will.

    Gee I guess you are referring to the GTA games that also made it to the XBOX ALSO and at least one or more GTA games made it to the PC? Naw..I must be thinking of the OTHER GTA games that made it to the XBOX and PC..

    I have to agree, with the currently installed base of the 360 and the general backlash against the high price of the PS3, I would almost guarantee that it will come out on the 360.

    With so FEW games being console exclusives these day, and with the development cost of a high profile game (such as this) reaching into the tens of millions of dollars, it's almost suicide for a developer to make a game exclusively for one console (unless you have a bajillion user customer base like the PS2, then even mediocre sales are not too bad).

    Unless the PS3 takes off unexpectedly and sells 15-20 million units it's first year (I don't even think Sony has anywhere near the capacity to produce the console in that quantity, but let's assume hypothetically they can), I am pretty sure the 360 will get this game. Not sure when (we all know about the "timed" exclusive deals), but it should happen at some point.

    Of course this is my opinion, and I am wrong regularly..lol..
