Bandai making 360 mech game

Bandai and Cavia developing action mech game Zegapain for summer release in Japan; TV anime series to air starting next month.

According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Bandai is currently making a new Xbox 360 mech game titled Zegapain XOR for a summer release in Japan. The game is being developed by Cavia, best known as the studio that worked on Square Enix's Drakengard series. Cavia is also working on two other Xbox 360 titles: an action game titled Bullet Witch, and a role-playing game named Cry On, which is being produced by Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mistwalker.

Zegapain is a sci-fi game in which mankind is fighting for survival against enemy beings called the Gars-orm. The player takes the role of ace pilot Toga Victor, who is resurrected after being killed in battle. To fight against the powerful Gars-orm, Toga pilots the mech Zegapain.

The Zegapain uses various weapons to take on the Gars-orm, such as a lightsaber and a rifle, and it can also adapt to different situations by trading its parts. The player will fight against the Gars-orm in various locations such as outer space, the mountains, and destroyed cities, as well as "virtual experiment spaces" that have been created by the Gars-orm.

Details on Zegapain XOR's game system haven't been disclosed yet, but Famitsu reports that it is a "robot action shooting game." Bandai is taking a mixed-media approach to the project and is launching a Zegapain anime series on April 6. The show will air on the TV Tokyo network every Thursday.

Everyone needs to check out YouTube and type in ZegaPain, that way you'll see the anime and how much potential this game has to offer if done correctly. I have faith in Bandai mainly because, they don't disappoint when it comes to anime game conversions and I'm not referring to just recent Bandai titles but their old ones DBZ Legends arguably the best DBZ game ever made.

Does anyone remember a game called Zone of the Enders? Looks way too much like it. Seems like Namco is re-launching it as a new title. Hope it's good.

None of bandai's anime based games are ever good. they're usually mediocre. THey should just let namco's teams work on anime properties they'd probably do a better job

i've been viewing scans for this game for months now...and ya, it looks awesome. More Japan support for MS is excellent, that means more japanese developers will jump onboard. woot!

they should make a Universal Century-based GUNDAM game. That would rock.

Ahh man......If there is a god out there somewhere, hopefully he could help the good people at Bandai on this.....Bandai is not known to produce all that good games.

I like Mech Games, but this one had better not be like Armored Core, where the enemy can just circle you with perfect accuracy when you can't even shoot.

I like mech games, when they're GOOD! The problem is that there are just too many crappy ones out right now. Hopefully this one will evade that folly, I'm also looking forward to Lost Planet, now there's what looks like a good Mech game!

there are two schools of mech design in Japan.. the highspeed mechs that catapult into the air doing acrobatic backflips while dodging swarms of missiles, and the massive behemoth mechs that plod across the landscape in slow but highly strategic battles.

they're both pretty cool, but I'd like to see at least one slow moving 'sim' mech game for a change of pace. there was steel batallion on the xbox but.... i would have paid for the $200 controller if the game was more extensible.. like a PC game.. something that people would be modding and playing for years and years.

Does Bandai EVER publish good games? Especially when they're based on an Anime show? No, because the Anime show will get a fan base that will buy the game even if it sucks, so why spend the extra money to make the game really good? It doesn't make sense for them to do that now does it?

Cavia? yech. Drakengards a horrible series. And Bandai's track record is horrible as well. My expectations here are slim.

if the pilot was resurrected once, he should never be able to die then (unless disintegrated) so will i better not see a traditional game over scene when you die.
