Gradius comp flies onto US PSPs

Big firepower comes to little handheld; collection of classic shooter includes Gradius I-IV and Gradius Gaiden.

Trigger-happy PSP owners in North America were green with envy late last year when Konami revealed that Gradius Portable would be invading Japan this February. Stateside fans of the series could only hope that Gradius Portable would somehow make it to US shores, and apparently fortune smiled upon them.

As part of the Konami press event in San Francisco today, the publisher revealed that Gradius Collection would zoom into US stores sometime this spring. Like its Japanese counterpart, Gradius Collection will include Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius III, Gradius IV, and Gradius Gaiden, which was previously unreleased in North America.

No rating or pricing information has been announced yet. For more information on Gradius Collection and the rest of Konami's announcements, check out GameSpot's coverage of the 2006 Konami Gamers' Day.

I couldn't agree with you more Vaejas! What kind of Gradius Collection is it without LIFEFORCE??? Incomplete, I suppose. That was one of the best games in the series. If it's not to be in this collection will we EVER see it again? I wonder.

Gaiden is the most awesome Gradius to never make it state-side. I bought the Playstation the Best import, and man, oh man is it sweet.

What, no Life Force? Hook us up with some Salamander 3! ^__^ Great quote in the Preview... "features a bit of slowdown, in order to recreate the entire experience..." so glad they take their emulation seriously! Throttle and frameskip are teh bre4d'n'butt3r.

Well, I guess we know which handheld Konami is supporting... it's a shame too because more people own DS's and GBA's so then they'd have more sells and more money... but I guess they'll be the next company to be bought out by Sony.
    LOL

It's good to see that they're finally bringing a popular game from Japan over to America for a try.

I'm not as of yet convinced that I need to buy a PSP (no games that interest me) but this is certainly a step in the right direction. Sony needs more 2D games.
