Black, Battlefront II now 360-friendly

Criterion's "gun porn," Pandemic's sci-fi shooter, Konami's kicker all updated for backward compatibility on Microsoft's next-gen console.

The Xbox 360 may be loading up its library of next-gen games with more titles trickling into retail, but Microsoft doesn't want next-gen gamers to forget the games from the current generation. The company has updated its list of Xbox games compatible with the Xbox 360, and three more have joined the 200-plus Xbox games playable on the 360.

Many gun-happy gamers had hoped that Electronic Arts' Black would be coming to the Xbox 360. They got their wishes half-answered today as the Criterion-developed game can now be played on the new console. Rounding out the trio of games is LucasArts' top seller Star Wars: Battlefront II and Konami's World Soccer Winning Eleven 9.

    I still don't know why, lucas art doesn't try to make a battlefront for the 360, There are tons of stuff they can do to make it better.

    I dont know anything about not having sound on BF2. It works flawlessly in my 360.

    Ummm... The XBox and PS2 are NOT "current gen", they are "last gen".

    The 360 is next gen, and it has been here since November. I think that qualifies as being the current gen.

    Darkwatch worked fine for me on the 360...
    Funny tho, I just finished playing Black on the old Xbox. Hate the hassle of swapping cables - even with a component switcher I'm still short on inputs.

    anybody try Darkwatch on 360 yet? I threw the disc in the other day, probably two weeks ago, and it wouldn't work. the compatibility list says it's a title that will work, but i doesn't dammit!!

    to ShingoEX; FYI, Microsoft execs had said that the goal is to get "every" xbox game compatible. And that is coming from interviews from multiple sources. And yeah, I got rid of my xbox, but right now I got 16 xbox 360 games and around 110 xbox games (about 35 are compatible). I'm what you might call "hardcore", but I still manage my family, cause I have 2 kids and a full time job. So don't go saying, "oh well all you do is play games." And you talk about people whining about the topics at hand such as backward compatibility. Well to that, I have this to say; At least people are voicing their opinions in hopes that MS will hear their thoughts, cause you never know if they got people checkin out forums and report back saying, "yeah, people weren't that happy that only 3 games were updated, and lots of people want the first battlefront and so on...." and actions "may" be taken. You talk about people whining about the topic....well at least they are not whining about other people whining.

    I love how many people on here do not realize how hard emulation is to perform on a completely different platform from the one you are emulating. 3 games might have literally taken 3 months to emulate properly. But then I forgot, all of you are hardcore programmers that know this already.

    Ok.............Very strange BF2 did not make the list, wasn't this game in the top most wanted list. Let me quess it will maybe show up a couple of months after the 360 version ships out. Shame on you EA for being greedy!

    Wow...most of these idiots actually thought the BC would be thoroughly implemented, even when MS said it wouldn't. Congrats on building something up in your own heads, only to be disappointed by your own letdown.

    Anyone who got rid of their Xbox in the hopes that the 360 would play all of their old games deserves what they get.

    To top it off, instead of gratitude for MS working to try and get more games to work, most people just whine like little babies.

    Ok, so we got 3 more games. Ladi-frickin-da! I think I speak for most people that have been waiting for bc updates...but I check the bc page on xbox.com almost pretty regularly, and up until the other day, it stated "Updated December 2005". So here we are now at the end of March, probably around 90 days after the Tom Clancy games were announced and they got 3 more games. Ok, I still have a crapload of games for xbox that I kept cause of the whole Backward compatibility, and I got rid of my xbox as well as PS2 and Gamecube to put credit toward the 360. So, what do they want us to do, go out and buy the original xboxes again, just so by the time they stop producing the original xboxes, then they decide to "really" update the bc list. I mean come on, they must have what, 10 people working on the bc issues lol. Let's go Microsoft, spend some of "OUR" hard earned money and get this bc bs rollin'. I think we all have been waiting long enough to just get 3 new updates. DAMN! The way things look the PS3 and Revolution will be able to play the whole xbox library before the 360 does...j/k lol....I do love my 360, just not everything (cough) backward compatibility issues (cough)!

    3 games only? Apparently MS is not working on BC all the months since launch like they said they were, and probably recently did these 3 games, Black wasn't released until late February...

    What this news post fails to mention is that battlefront 2 has no sound at all.
    No music, no sound effects... and what good is a star wars game without those two critical elements?

    Kinda busy with all of my other 360 games right now and so far Battlefield 2 looks like the Black for the 360 so I don't know if I will pick up that game or not.

    360s backwards compatability is so weak. MS says whatever, but once poeple buy the product, it becomes another story. lame.

    Sweet, now I get to try BLACK. I live in North America but I know why everyone else has to wait so long for that update. Because of different languages it requires a longer time to send out an update. But, still we've given them 3 months!

    It's a pretty sad state of affairs. If you promise backwards compatability make sure you deliver it.

    Well that's a major disappointment... 3 months of work for 3 games... next quater it'll be 1-2 games added and then all of a sudden MS will update no longer. Another MS dropped promise.... f-ing surprise.

    I think they going to start trickling updates for BC. My other games are getting updates too and they are looking better, for example my fifa street now is in widescreen mode and looks and plays better. I think and I hope that the will be getting updated quickly in the next month or so. Also I think the whole system is going to get some crazy update like around e3 time, but this is my speculation. No proof : (

    I'm still waiting for Battlefront I. I actually enjoyed that better then Battlefront II. Though I do have newfounnd motivation to try BLACK now.

    SWBF2!!!! Finally!!! Very pleased about that...but I'm disappointed that MK Deception was not fixed with this newest release. Here's hoping SW Republic Commando is added in the near future.
