DS Metroid and Tetris shipping

Nintendo's dual-screened handheld receives WiFi-enabled duo of durable franchises this week.

Nintendo doubled its support for the Nintendo DS WiFi Connection today. The company announced that Tetris DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters have shipped and will join fellow first-party WiFi-compatible games Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World on store shelves this week.

A reworked edition of the 1985 Soviet puzzle game, Tetris DS adds six new modes to the game, each featuring a theme based on a popular Nintendo property such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, or Metroid. There are also several multiplayer modes, including two- or four-player contests, over the Wi-Fi Connection. For local matches, up to 10 players can play a multiplayer match using one copy of the game.

In Metroid Prime: Hunters, series starlet Samus is pitted against six alien bounty hunters, each with its own background, abilities, and alternate attack form. The game includes 20 arenas for gamers to hunt their friends in and seven multiplayer modes. It is also the first Nintendo DS game to allow live voice chat, though the feature will only be available in the lobby section before and after games.

    My roommate's got this game and Tetris DS reserved, and he's picking them up this afternoon. It's funny 'cause I'm the Metroid freak but he's the one with the DS. Still, he's just about as excited about it as I am. I'll spend some good times with this sucker....

    yeh, just receive my copy of metroid. it is considered fast as i live in malaysia. i love this game better. this game is better than mario kart ds. i am yet to try it wifi online gaming.

    played Tetris. It's good stuff. I only have the demo for Hunters.
    I like Metroid for it's single player so I'm not sure if I'll get Hunters if it centers on multiplayer. I'll stick with Halo for multiplayer.

    I just called Target and Gamestop and Gamestop wasn't getting MPH 'till tomorrow, and Target Wednesday. Do games usually ship late? I live in WA btw. - christthepenguin



    All the games are shipping today, none ship late. It all depends on when stores get their copies in. In most cases, it's the day after the ship date. Random stores like Target though can usually get them later for some reason, but GameStops and EB's will have em Tuesday.
