Star Trek Online picks up series staffer

Technical consultant to The Next Generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine joins development team.

Perpetual Entertainment has hired Michael Okuda as design consultant for the upcoming massively multiplayer online game, Star Trek Online. A technical designer and all-around Star Trek guru, Okuda has worked as a technical consultant to the writers of The Next Generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine television series, as well as seven Star Trek films. He will primarily design the game's interface, along with serving as a more general Star Trek universe consultant. The MMOG holds the licenses for every Star Trek show, and it will let players join the Starfleet in a variety of capacities as they travel the galaxy. No release date has been announced.

dg3215, I'm a bit confused. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Okuda not responsible for the technique used in Star Trek and the scenery.
If I'm right, how could it be his fault that movies were a fail???

I dont know why people think this guy being involved makes this game any better uh all the star trek movies he had anything to do with were fail, just like this game will be. To bad that they cant make a decent trek game I really enjoyed all the shows even enterprise, the movies were eh.

This is the best news a Star Trek video game, with the line's checkered history, could have. Real Okudagrams on screen! Maybe they'll give him storyline input, too, which wouldn't hurt it any, either.
