Rome: Total War expanding

[UPDATE] Activision confirms an expansion pack is in the works for the Creative Assembly's Caesarean RTS.

Comments

Many-a-PC gamer was thrilled last fall when Activision released Rome: Total War, the latest installment in the Creative Assembly's long-running real-time strategy series. However, those same gamers were horrified when the British developer announced it had been bought by Sega and was now developing a console action game, Spartan: Total Warrior. The news made many believe that the Creative Assembly was abandoning PC development altogether.

However, it appears that those PC gamers may be getting a consolation prize of sorts. This week, GameStop posted a product page for one "Rome Total War Expansion Pack." Although the page was pulled down today and had no product description or release date, it did list the developer as the Creative Assembly and the publisher as Activision.

[UPDATE] However, Activision reps were more than happy to confirm that a Rome: Total War expansion was indeed in the works, and will be available this coming fall. However, that's all the publisher would say for now. "We'll have more details soon," said the rep.
