AGEIA Technologies said yesterday that it has signed Kathy Schoback on to be its new vice president of content acquisition. This news deals a further staff-related blow to Schoback's previous employer, Infinium Labs, which lost Richard Skoda, its executive VP of business development, earlier this month.

Schoback is Chair Emeritus for the International Game Developers Association and is best known for her work at Sega of America and Eidos. More recently, she served as vice president of content acquisition for Infinium Labs. That company is currently preparing to show off its Phantom gaming service at E3 next month.

"Kathy's been a longtime friend of mine, which is why I brought her into the company," Kevin Bachus, president of Infinium Labs, told GameSpot. "Any opportunity she has for advancement in the industry is great for her. She is a phenomenal person." According to Bachus, Schoback officially left Infinium Labs back in March, at about the same time the Game Developers Conference took place.

Mountain View-based AGEIA added to this news and also announced it has signed Andy Keane to act as new vice president of marketing. Keane created the marketing campaigns for the 3dfx Voodoo graphics cards in the late '90s.

The PhysX chip, AGEIA's flagship product, is the gaming industry's first physics processing unit. According to the company, it is a processor dedicated to performing complicated calculations in games, often applied to realistically representing bodies falling from buildings or cars careening off bridges.
