TOKYO--Nihon Falcom, Japanese creator of the Y's series of role-playing games, announced today that it will launch Sorcerian Online for the PC before the end of the year. The game is slated to be released in Japan only.

In December of 2003, Falcom announced that it would be targeting the online space with a version of its popular Y's action RPG series. The company said it would collaborate on the project with Korean developer eSofnet, with hopes of a 2005 release date.

However, the company has since made it known that Y's will now be released in 2006, making Sorcerian Online Falcom's first online RPG.

Sorcerian was originally released for Japanese PCs in 1987. The 2D side-scrolling role-playing game featured innovative systems for its day: a generation-change system allowed the abilities of an aging character to be passed on to a younger character, and the game allowed for the installation of additional quests and scenarios.
