Championship Manager 5 announced for the PS2 and Xbox
Eidos announces that PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of Championship Manager 5 are currently in development at Gusto Games.
Eidos has today announced the development of Championship Manager 5 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The console versions of the soccer management title are currently scheduled for release in Europe in spring of 2005, while the PC game is expected to arrive in stores this October.
"This is a great opportunity for us to build upon the phenomenal success of the Championship Manager brand by taking it to a whole new audience," said Jonathan Kemp, European managing director at Eidos. "We have long been aware of the great demand among PlayStation 2 owners to experience the world's most successful and realistic football management game. Our new technology, being developed for Championship Manager 5, has been designed in a way to enable a faithful re-creation of the Championship Manager experience on [the] PlayStation 2 and Xbox."
Championship Manager 5 will be the first game in the popular series to appear on any console other than the Xbox. It's also worth noting, though, that this is the first Championship Manager game to be developed by a team other than Sports Interactive, which is currently working on its own Football Manager 2005 title. We'll bring you more information on both games as soon as it becomes available.
