another game I was late to review... that's so like me

User Rating: 9.7 | Need for Speed Underground PS2
This and Most Wanted were the last 2 good Need For Speed games in my opinion. I say this because the last one after Most Wanted wasn't as good as I expected it to be. Yes, I am talking about Carbon. Underground was probably my all-time favorite racing game when I was younger. When I got it, it was all I played. Anyway, the campaign or as it's called, Underground, has you racing a souped up Integra but it's all just a dream. Basically, it's one of those "if you wanna be the best, you gotta beat the best" sort of games and it's what you're doing in the career mode. Being the best. Beating your opponents, rivals and getting rewards such as special parts, new cars, things like that. Speaking of cars, there's a few to choose from but one car from one make so every car is from a different make. For instance, the only car from Wolkswagen that you'll see is the Golf GTi. The only car from Honda you will see is the Civic. The only car you'll see from Hyundai is the Tiburon. Except for Nissan because there are 2 cars. The Sentra SE-R and the Skyline. (only in Japan) Some of the cool things about this game is the drift events and getting your car in a magazine like Super Street or Import Tuner. There are foreign magazines like Elaborare, which is a magazine based in Italy and Maxi Tuning which is based in Spain and Chrom & Flammen from Germany. I never heard of those magazines so the game introduced me to them which was pretty cool. There isn't a large variety of customization options but the options provided is more than enough to leave you satisfied. There's lots of vinyls, decals, tints, neons, body parts, and plenty of things provided to make your cars look to showroom condition and that is satisfying to do. I wish there were more NFS games like this but Most Wanted is just as good.
