The first NFSU for GBA. The best 3D graphics I've seen on GBA so far. The racing feels a little... cheap though.

User Rating: 8.2 | Need for Speed Underground GBA
With the consoles finally having a Need for Speed game to be really proud of, EA just couldn't leave out the GBA. So they created a good base for a racing game, and built for GBA aspects amazing looking graphics around it. There are some 10 racing tracks, but a lot of parts from them resemble other tracks, just sufficient you could say. About 12 cars to choose from, including my personal favorite Nissan 350Z. They all feel a little different, in three categories, Acceleration, Topspeed and Handling. These three are to be upgraded, so called tuning, by accesories you gain when winning races in the Underground-mode. Just like in the quick race mode, there are four different race-types to choose from. First, there is Circuit. Just racing around a bit in the city, and when it's over, you end up where you started: with the other (up to three) racers. Second is Sprint. Short races on a part of each track, an explosive press-the-A-button-as-hard-as-you-can match. Third off is Drag. A straight track, and nothing to worry about but you're acceleration and Nitro-boost. Be sure to use it wisely though. And last but not least we have Drift. The idea is to slide through the turns without hitting the walls. Gain more points then you're opponent and become the drift-master! What isn't so good is that most cars feel a little to light. Like driving karts or something. Especially the Nissan Skyline doesn't feel like the monster it is. This kinda undermines the underground street racing idea, and that's too bad. For the rest, this is in my opinion the best racer for GBA, and the tuning goes pretty deep as well. Hundreds of ways to make your car unique should keep you busy for a while. With that comes the replay-value. You can pick up a race anytime you like, and get back in the game after a couple of races. The only thing that bothered me in this is that when you complete the Underground once, or a couple of times, you get one extra car, but no new difficulties for the Underground-mode. Would have improved the game by several tenths of points.
