Good, but could've been much better.

The Need for Speed series took a new twist last year when it introduced Need for Speed Underground, about organized street racing. This year, one year later, the second game in the Underground branch of the series has emerged. The game has little story, but it basically says that, while you were on the top of your career, someone has come around and broken your stride. You fly off to a new city to try and start over and become a great racer again. You start off with one bad car that you need to trick out before you'll have a chance to really do anything worthwhile. Everytime you win enough races, a new section of the city will open up. And this city is huge. The only bad thing about the huge city is that you'll have to drive a long way to get from race to race, which is kinda cool at first, but soon becomes boring and takes some of the fun away from the game. Another annoyance is that everytime you open up a new section, you have to find the new shops before they'll be on your radar, and once you get far enough, you can't do well in the races in that section because your car isn't fast enough. You'll spend close to an hour looking for all the shops when you open up the new section which gets very old very fast. There is no vehicle damage, which is kind of disappointing after playing Burnout 3 and Halo 2 with their realistic vehicle damage. Nevertheless, Underground 2 is great in just about every other way, and can be good for just some pick-up and play moments.
