I was a big fan of the first NFSU for xbox. I enjoy my 20th anniversary Volkswagon GTI in real life, somewhat fallow tunning culture and read allot of techical message boards about different mods for my car. With that being siad, this game is GREAT for me. I have a blast fine tuning my GTI in the game. For those who arent soo into car tunning culture I can see how NFSU2's shortcomings may shine through a bit stronger (esp coming from burnout or project gotham). I recomend purchasing the game guide which includes a large city map. This cuts down on wasting time driving around trying to find certain body or parts shops. The game guide also better explains the fine tuning that can be done. Beyond purchasing new performance parts you can tweak multiple settings for Suspension, Drive train, ECU, TURBO, AEROdynamics, and Tires/brakes. Again, a dream for those into tuning. Maybe too intricate for those who just want to race. This game is def for people who want to spend time tuning and customizing the cars. The racing is great imo, good balance of sim/arcade. But if your looking for strictly exiting racing go for burnout. The sound is great, again for those who are into the nuances of different exaust sounds and turbo spooling up. For others it may not matter. Graphically the game gets a B. Nothing mind blowing but some very nice touches with motion blur and rain hitting the camera. The car models and mods look fine in game. Car selecting is wonderful. I will have the VW GTI, Audi A3, Mitsubishi Lancer, Nissan Skyline, and Subaru WRX STI in the garage. will stress it again, buy the game guide! It will help you enjoy the game more and help you avoid wasting time driving around the city looking for things. Your time is best spent tuning and racing not exploring grand theft auto style. Biggest gripe is the AWFUL dialog, its embarrassing to listen to. he soundtrack is pour at best. Mediocre songs from too many different genres and I enjoy listening to just about about everything. From alt-country to hiphop to black metal to experimental electronic. I shut the music off in the game and turn on my stereo. Lets the engine sound shine through. An AMAZING game for fans of tuning culture, hit or miss for those that just want to race. see you guys online.
