The Hottest Pursuit ever

User Rating: 8 | Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 PC
Bowled over. That's the first thing I genuinely felt when I started this game and watch the intro chase unfold. As a matter of fact, I never skipped that intro movie whenever I played the game; it was cool, slick and amazing. As for the game, it is all that I could've hoped for; amazing. And for me, it was even more so as I never played any of the NFS games between this and NFS II so it felt like a huge leap.

Gameplay: The races are as usual. There are two modes - circuit and sprint - and two career modes - the championship and the hot pursuit - with a huge variety of tracks (counting the reversed as well as mirrored versions that is). The most enjoyable aspect: cops. They come after you when you break the speed limit or ram into them. And boy the chases sure are tight especially on the higher wanted levels with helicopters dropping barrels, cops using spike strips, it can get difficult.

Graphics: The game looks sooo good. The cars are simply amazing; selecting a car for a race showcases cars in a manner making you feel that you have a supercar store right in fromt of you. The tracks are great as well - from the volcanoes, to the waterfalls, to the beaches, it all looks so good.

Sound: The cars sound quite distinct. The banter between the cops is also quite authentic and well done. And the instrumentals which play during the background is simply pulsating (especially the "Hot Action Cop: Going Down On It" track which plays behind the intro movie; it just makes the race all the more special)

The game sometimes would stutter but that was when I played it on my older system; as of now, it works great without any hiccups. I've played this for a fairly long amount of time now. Can't say much about the PS2 version but this for me this is definitely worth playing if not for anything else, at least for the "Hot" Pursuits it has to offer.
