A decent game of football, but filled with bugs, glitches, and lacking polish.

User Rating: 6.5 | NCAA Football 11 PS3
NCAA Football ends up providing a pretty good game of football, but it comes at a price.

Graphics - The graphics look as superb as ever. I think it's the game's greatest strength. However, the annoying graphical glitches are still present. Players still run through each other on occasion, and celebrating near the stands usually results in the player warping through the wall. It doesn't detract from the game play or how it looks, but it is a glitch that should have long been corrected by now.

Gameplay - The controls are pretty good. However, some bugs are prevalent here. Many times during a playaction pass my QB would continue running about another 30 yards straight back in the handoff motion with no way to get out of it. By then, you are usually sacked or having to force a pass 60 yards up the field to a random receiver. Another one includes certain passes not even being looked at when they are thrown at receivers. Too many times did I loft a pass to a wide open receiver only for them to not make any play on it. The running game is much better. The passing game seems to have taken a hit as it is nearly impossible to complete a deep pass or a playaction pass due to being sacked in a nanosecond. And can we just keep the kicking down to aiming and pressing X at the right time instead of the right analog stick?

Sound and presentation - The game sounds as good as ever, but the commentary is lacking. Lee Corso is missed, and the same phrases are repeated over and over often times not matching up to what happened on the field. The Erin Andrews clips are the same ones from last year, although Herbstreit commenting on the Road to Glory player is pretty cool.

One last thing for EA. The really need to start working on upgrading some of these game modes. Road to Glory and offline Dynasty are pretty much unchanged.

As I said, it is a good game. However, I'm glad I didn't spend $60 on this. It's a great rental to tide football fans over until Madden is released. Too many bugs, glitches, and lazy aspects keep it from being a truly great game.
