NBA Street Simply amazing

User Rating: 9.1 | NBA Street PS2
NBA Street took an old idea and put a new spin on it. Arcade style basket ball based on real world street ball. For those that say EA is not innovative they need only to look to their BIG brand of games and this one is a heavy hitter. NBA Street is a game where you not only try to out score you opponent on the B Ball court, but do it with style. You play three on three basketball rules are simple or are they? First on to 21 wins the game and there is a deuce rule meaning you have to win by two should you both be tied at 20 when the time comes. You juke, jive, fake, deke, and try to make your opposition look foolish while you score all the while. The game is further complicated by something called a gamebreaker. This is a meter that builds up with each fakeout you perform. When filled you can perform a special shot that will not only give you points but takes away points from your opponent depending on where you shoot from different amounts of point are deducted. With the basic premise laid down lets get into to control and gameplay. The game handles like a champ. Giving you complete control over your baller on the court. jukeing depends heavily on timing. Do it right and youll be amazed at the moves you pull of do it with the wrong player and youll ba amazed at how hard they fall. This game can be quite fun and gives a reason for sports gamers to be competitive. There are different player in the game including the starting five of all NBA teams. There are street ballers and hidden characters who add a little spice to the game. Tha street ballers are set up in a ladder and act as boss characters on you way to the top of the chain to meet with none other than the lord and master of round ball Michael Jordan. While not a fan of MJ I got to admit making him the end goal makes it all the more sweet when you meet and beat him. Each street baller has a personality and style all their own. DJ is a big dunker and decent shooter, Bonafide is quick and can steal and shoot the tre, Stretch is old school at its best with his fundamental play, long range shot and good dunking ability. The verity in this game is astounding and to me is the best for a created team because when you beat a team you pick one from the team to join you and you have no limit. The graphics are decent and the motion capture is great they just needed a wider array of fakeout moves. The animation is tight and succeeds in making you feel the game as every baller dunks and then lets you know about it with a celebration animation. The sound is nice with a good selection of music. The voices are great and depending on how you feel about the made up announcer Joe the Show you can love him or hate him. Michael Jordan lends his voice and the street ballers all have things to say when they step out on the court. The replay value in this one as with many sports games is high. This onw though will have you playing for a while. The personality of the street ballers are all nice and lets you feel like you are actually competing with them. The single player mode is great and makes you feel like you accomplished something when your finished. This is a classic in a long line of good games get it while its cheap and here. I guarantee youll tell your kids about this one when your a washed up gamer. PEACE!!
