Well...here goes. My first review of a PSP game! The NBA Street series has been a long time favorite of most Playstation owners ever since its debut around 2001. It makes a great transfer from console to handheld in the newest installment, Showdown. The game plays just like all the other NBA Street games- it's fun, stylized, and has many great features in it. In it, there is a "rule the streets" mode, in which you must create a player and take him through courts all across the nation, becoming "King of the Streets" - nothing new, but it's still fun. It also has a multiplayer, so I'm looking forward to playing that. About the graphics, they just don't really compare to the other PSP games out there. The character models are sort of blocky, but there are some intricute details put in throughout the course of the game. There are a few little glitches, but nothing too major to ruin the game. What I love about almost every EA Sport game is the soundtrack to go along. This includes a rap soundtrack with a few oldies thrown in there too. Overall, it establishes the right feel for the game, and makes it an even more enjoyable experience. Bobbito Garcia is your announcer in this one, much like Vol. 2. He says the exact same things in the other NBA Street, so it's not a big deal when he talks. Some of his lines are funny, some are cheesy and lame, but altogether it does make the game a little better. NBA Street: Showdown proves that this particular franchise will never get old or boring, and any PSP owners or potential PSP owners should at least check it out.
