I have loved the NBA Jam franchise since it was at the arcade. It's fun, it's what you expect and know from the franchise, but burns out fast.

I will spare details of what it's about as it's pretty self explanatory. Instead bullet difference from last years and comments.

- 3 pointers are easier...almost too easy. Last year there was a lot of Dwight Howard and Duncans online...mostly defense with some Bird players mixed in. This year it's all 3's. It gets pretty tiring and frustrating as it can be hard to defend with the picks and running around.

- Team Fire! Is back and enjoyable, but is rarely used, as it is easy to hit 3's regardless so the appeal for fire isn't great and doesn't allow you to do much other than goal-tend.

- My favorite update is the show-boat moves and trick shots. Doing the "Dougie" or taunting is fun, and gives you something to do during blowouts.

- Blocks are slightly harder and steals slightly easier than last years.

- You are allowed to buy players, gammer tags, teams with "Jam Bucks". But if you buy the DLC to unlock all the players ($5), Jam Bucks are pretty worthless. Cool idea but fall short. I currently have 200k Jam Bucks not even being used.

- Online play is a lot of picks and 3's and no defense. The defense that does get played is usually full court press with pushes and swipes for the ball. The game play like this runs it's course fast. Most people online enjoy using the combo of Bird and Ray Allen...LAME, and gets old fast.

- Online is still littered with glitches at the start screens where it locks requiring a system or game reboot.

- No Rookies due to the lockout. Rubio is there and quite decent, but Derrick Williams, Kyire Erving are not...if the NBA lockout gets solved there will be roster updates this year which is a plus.

- Road Trip is quite different from last years mini games and bosses, and also very boring. If you get to diamond it can be a little bit of a challenge, but Jam Vets will find it no more than a "lil" challenge and breeze through it.

- Metals. The producers say they are going to up the replay value by changing metals you can earn every week. It gets boring fast and most don't care that much. - Leaderboard. New and deep leader boards, but bad interface and not much of the stats people care about.

Overall I'm disappointed. But if you didn't get last years, for $15 you can't go wrong. Makes a great game to play with buddies before a night out, or age appropriate and enjoyable for kids 7 and up. Mc$crooge's dollar per hour- $1 (you should be able to get 20 hours of play out of it, depending on how fast you get tired of the Roadtrip/Campaign portion of the game).
