Drive Fast, Turn Left, It's AMERICAN!!!
A 400-600 mile race is a LONG DRIVE, but when it comes to NASCAR on the PSP it's easy to take... the controls are excellent given that there's not a right analog stick for accelerator/ brake just the good ol' X and Square buttons like the glory days before dual analog controllers... but they made it just the right amount of forgiving in the use of the buttons to remove the frustration and let the fun get through.
For those unfamiliar with NASCAR, the science is in the set-up of the car for each track... taking the same car everyone else uses and figuring out how to get the best performance out of it without wearing out the parts and gulping through the gas. Fuel and tire windows can mean the difference between a win and coming in dead-last.
There are all the familiar race modes here like a career in terms of Climb To The Top, Instant Race in all four classes (NEXTEL Cup, NBS, Craftsman, and Whelen Modifieds), Dodge Speed Zone challenges, etc., etc., basically more NASCAR than you can shake a stick at... there are plenty of unlockables to race for and endless replay value even though the rosters & the car design have changed since this game came out.
This is a SIM... so if you want to drift corners and jump bridges, get "Midnight Club" or "Burnout" instead... but if you love this sport like so many millions do around the world, pick it up!!!
