7 Namco classics delivered to you living room!

User Rating: 7.8 | Namco Museum Vol. 1 (PlayStation the Best) PS
In the first installment of NAMCO's greatest hits, we find mostly classic arcade action delivered with great authenticity. Popular, well known hits such as Galaga and Pole Position are joined by less popular and lesser known goodies as Bosconian and Toy Pop, which I found surprisingly addictive. I found this to be the best part of the disc: it's actually nice to get to play some old games you didn't get to when they were released or maybe never made it to an arcade near you (or even the United States). Certainly, if you demand high end gaming, this is not for you. It is for those who can still find pleasures in the simpler, yet still fun, games of their youth. Graphics and sound are exactly the same as in the original arcade versions. You also have access to electronic versions of the dipswitch settings found in the actual cabinet games, so you can alter lives per credit, points needed for extra lives, and similar settings. There is also a large history museum for each game, letting you see the game as it was introduced to early '80s arcade operators. If you enjoy the old-school gaming experience to this day, pick this game up!
