MySims? No thanks, you can have them.

User Rating: 2 | MySims DS

I'm a huge Sims fan, and after seeing the trailer and reading a couple user reviews for MySims I was sold.

I examined the back of the box eagerly:

"Rebuild a town, unlock fun locations,

And add your own personal touch!"

Wow! I couldn't wait to build my own town! This would be great!

Unfortunately, no one bothered to mention that in MySims DS, you CAN'T build houses or furniture-Which is the main reason I bought this game-the most you can do is place predetermined items in the park; trees, tents, flowers, etc. And that's only where my disappointment began!

There were more let-downs in store:

-Even though the music changes throughout the day it's VERY repetitive.

-From the trailer you're let to believe the graphics are cute, but in the DS version they're actually dull and leave much to be desired.

-Mini games become a chore very quickly.

-Those 'fun' locations you can unlock are: a field crowded with rocks and dead trees, a meadow full of unmoving windmills, and an itty-bitty island with a three-room mansion and a bamboozling disco club.

-Whether its fish, flowers, or gifts the spectrum of items in the game is VERY limited.

-Conversations are repetitive and boring.

-Most of the town characters have about as much personality as a soggy piece of toast.

-What little furniture there is is uncreative; need to decorate your house? Well in MySims all your necessities come in four basic colors; red, yellow, blue and green! What variety!

-Furniture that's even slightly interesting must be traded at the casino for a ridiculous amount of points.

The only good points in the game that I can think of is that you have a decent variation in wardrobe and the baby forest animals are adorable, but even those things lose their appeal quickly.

You know, it's funny, the tourists who visit your town often complain "This place is boring," and "There's nothing to do in this town!" as if they actually KNOW they're in a platitudinous game and they're mad they can't do anything about it.

I wish I could console them, but the fact is this game sucks.

After completing this game I feel like I was cheated out of my money; I would not recommend buying, renting, or even borrowing this game.

Look into getting one of the many other Sims games and avoid this one like the plague.
