It's Fun, It Just Takes Some Work!

I have to start this off by saying I have been in love with Rainbow Studios since Motocross Madness came out on the PC oh so long ago! I love riding dirt bikes and that game was just a riot! Well, jump forward to now and I have to admit I haven't been real impressed with the last few games they have put out. They are fun, don't get me wrong, but they just aren't as cool as their first few games. So I did have some relatively high expectations for this game because it was claiming to have amazing controls and the deformation of the tracks was supposed to be great... I'm here to tell you both of those statements are true, but the first one won't seem true unless you show some patience and play it a bit. I tried the demo and hated it! I didn't play it for a few days because I was very annoyed at how bad the controls felt. I decided to give it another chance and try to learn how to use the controls correctly, and I'm sure glad I did! It can still be a bit tough sometimes, but it's really rewarding when I hit the jumps just right or take the perfect line. What kind of hurts the controls from the get go is the weird physics that sometimes crop up. Too many times you'll be racing and hit a bump and instead of just going over it you get bounced further than you should across the track. Also, the computer AI is overly wreckless and often the riders don't race how they should/would in real life. I can't tell you how many times I had a line and would take it and then have the computer shoot across the track or fly off a jump right at me when their was plenty of space or they should have allowed me to keep my line since I was ahead of them. Overall though, the game is really fun. The track deformation is really cool and there is a TON of stuff to do! Plus, you get 16 player MP and you can do split screen which I think is sick! If you like off-road racing then you really need to pick this game up and give it a try. Make sure you take some time and work with the controls because if you do, you'll be really happy with the results!
