Mortal Kombat was the first game to start the revolution of fighting games.
It always has been and always will be the most grusomely enjoyable fighting game ever made. Mortal Kombat 1 was released in 1992 and was actually ment to be a quick project. It took only four people and was made in less than a year. With the use of digitized characters and grusome graphic effects were the reason this game took arcades by storm. The idea was made by Ed Boon to bring his ideas to reality to create the best fighting game ever created. The players could not believe their eyes when they saw all the gore in such a small game. This was the first Mortal Kombat game ever made which caused a major revolution to fighting games. What really caused this game to be so famous was its grusome graphic effects which makes it addictive and its fighting style. Without the gore Mortal Kombat would have never been the fighting game it is today. It was also released on home systems like Sega Genisis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System. However there was a difference between the coin operated version and the home system version. When Ed Boon was in his car one day an idea ocurred to him to make a secret character in his game. This secret character is Reptile. In the pit stage in the coin operated version Reptile will appear sometimes to give you tips on how to find him. However in the home system version Reptile doesnt appear at all. Here are the ways to find him:
1. Play to the pit stage in 1 player mode without continuing.
2. On the pit stage beat the opponent double flawless without blocking. ((Dont touch the block buttons!))
3. When you hear "Finish Him/Her!" preform a fatality. (You can use block when preforming a fatality.)
4. Do this correctly and Reptile will appear at the bottom of the pit stage. Defeat him too earn 10 million points.
Reptile was ment to be a mixture of Sub-Zeros moves and Scorpions moves to make him strong. Sonya Blade was another character added to the home system version. When they wanted to add it to the coin operated version it was already being tested in Chicago. I also think the SNES version is a huge rip off. Nintendo made them take out all the blood and gore out which makes the game worthless.

The gameplay is really great considering the fact that it was really easy to control on the Genisis version . The graphics were actually the same as the other games in its generation. I think this game is still worth a lot and I still play it everyday. I beat the game over 200 times. Read faqs and move lists for information on specials, fatalities and problems.

This amazing game was the first one the started it all.........
