The game's incomplete history really shows through, making this by far the worst Mortal Kombat ever.

As a huge fan of the Mortal Kombat series, I just had to give Special Forces a change. The last time Mortal Kombat was an adventure game was Mortal Kombat Mythologies. MKM was a really good game. Even though it never got the attention it deserved, it was a great game. Special Forces really deserves its low scores. Before you bash this game to pieces, it might help to know a little bit of history about it. John Tobias started making this game, but he left Midway before it was completed. Ed Boon then picked up tha game, and made it playable. This is the version we got. Now on with the review. To put it bluntly, this game sucks. I should probably explain more. MKSF is a 3D adventure game that takes place before the first MK tournament, and it tries to explain the relationship between Jax and Kano. That alone causes problems. In MK3 we are told that Jax just got his metal arms, but he has them here... Weird. So you start the game and the this nice video clip. Watching it may make you think that the game isn't so bad, but please don't be swayed. You start the game, and you're greated with bad, pixelated graphics, and bad controll. As you go through the levels, you need to beat up the bad guys and collect things like keys, guns and passes. This causes major problems. As you fight your first enemies, the game completely falls apart. Even on the easiest difficulty, the AI is hard. They block all of your moves, and attack you relentlessly. There are even some that shoot you from a distance. What makes things worse is the horrible collision detection. About 90% of your moves won't hurt your opponent because you'll just see your punches and kicks go right through their bodies. The majority of the game has you running around collecting things. That makes the whole things repetitive and boring. MKSF is also a graphical mess. The characters are primitive and blocky, and the stages are horribly pixelated. To add to the madness is horrible camera angles. most of the time the camera is right on top of you, but as you move, it seems to zoom in on you, making it impossible to see where your enemies are. The sound is even below average. Mortal Kombat usually gives us great background music and soud effects, but not this time. Now we have very subtle background music, mediocre sound effects, and while the commontator from the previos MK games is back, the just used old voice samples from him. What's really sad is that this is the best part of the game. I know this review didn't make alot of sense. It's just that there's so much to attack in the game that i don't know where to start. If you only listen to 1 thing i say, let it be this: DON'T BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!
