The deception is that the game is deeper than you think.

Sound -
For the most part, these are your basic brawler sounds. Grunts, screams, and moans are common flare. What's not common is the quality of the sound. The music rocks, let me tell you!

What is NOT great about the sound is in the Konquest mode. BLAH. The voice acting makes any Capcom survival horror film sound like it's being read by Orson Wells. Granted, you're probably not playing that mode for the acting, but more on that later.

Control -
While not perfect, the control is very satisfying. Taping moves the character in or out of the camera field while holding it causes a character to jump. Each shoulder button has a different use. It does take a little getting used to at first, but once you remap the settings or learn to use the default layout, you'll be fine.

Combos aren't executed as well as I would like. You "dial-a-combo" very far in advanced. I've never been a fan of this, but it is very interesting and amusing to watch...until you realize that you haven't pushed the combo in correctly and then get your butt handed to you as you sit back and hope to watch your combo to happen.

Don't get me wrong, the controls are responsive! Every tap of the button executes with no delay (except in the Dial-a-Combo). I never found myself pushing a button and hoping that something would happen when I expected it to.

Graphics -
Daaaaaang! The graphics are BEAUTIFUL. From the real time lighting to the blood dripping off of the characters, everything is done to put a smile on your face.

As characters take more damage, they begin to drip blood around the ground. Special moves stain the characters (briefly) and the streak across the playing field in spectacular displays of light.

Bonuses -
You want them, you got them. Chess, Konquest, Online, Kombat, and Puzzle Kombat are the game modes. There are over 400(!!!) tombs for you to unlock. Some can only be unlocked by finding Krypt Keys in Konquest mode while others can be opened using the different types of Koins won in the other modes.

At first only a few characters and bios are available, but you can open up more as you get the tombs unlocked. Same goes for the alternate costumes.

Buy or Rent -
BUY it . It's not as polished as other 3d fighters out there, but how many others have ways of killing off your opponents? You won't be unhappy with this purchase.
