Monster Hunter is obviously the biggest game on the PSP, and perhaps will always be the best selling. Yeah, you could say there are better games out there, but Monster Hunter succeeds in doing what it's set out to do, and despite some unfortunate problems that have dragged out throughout the series, the game still pulls through as a must own on the PSP.

Monster Hunter Freedom was the first to make it's appearance on the handheld console, and was brilliant despite it's few problems. Monster Hunter Freedom 2 improved what problems were found on the 1st and even added much more content. Finally, Unite is here to fix everything up, with 100% more content, missions, gameplay and bug fixes, it's the perfect Monster Hunter game.

The game doesn't have a story, not at all. You basically create your character and get on to some missions. These missions vary from your basic "Collect 10 herbs" to "Kill a Yian Kut-Ku" to many others. There are tons and tons of missions, plus those downloadable, so there's no way you'll be completing everything in less than 100 hours. Some of the missions you'll probably feel like doing over and over again till you get all the money and materials you need in order to create new weapons and armor.

Creating your armor and weapons plays a major part in Monster Hunter, without the right armor to kill the right monster, you'll be thrown all over the place and won't stand a chance. You never level up in this game, it's all about having good equipment and enough supplies to last in the battle.

Don't think Unite is all about killing more and more monsters none-stop, there are many, many other things to do if you prefer. You can farm, go on treasure hunting quest, go training for points, trade between other players and even train up your own comrade. Yes, Unite introduces your very own comrade Felyne who will help you throughout your missions, he'll attack, gather and even cure you if you train him to. He can become very useful at times... but sometimes a pain in the behind. Until he becomes a very high level, you'll mostly find him useful as a distraction for the beast you're fighting. Other times your comrade may accidently throw a barrel bomb near you and knock you flying, this doesn't happen often, but just hope it doesn't happen at the wrong time.

One of the best features in the game is of course the multiplayer, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite provides the best multiplayer you will find on the PSP, cooperative gaming has never been so fun. Up to 4 players can take down a huge monster and succeed in many other missions, trade between each other or even just train together. If you have any friends with Unite, you need to get playing the multiplayer, it's just brilliant.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is just the perfect Monster Hunter game, not the perfect PSP game due to some problems that may take some getting used to. However, Unite is clearly a game you need to own on your PSP.
