What have they got against this game?

At first, I figured this game was nothing special: a mediocre hunting game. Then I decided to try the demo.

Wow was all I could say.

Okay, this may sound like waffling, but if you like a quick action game, this definitely won't be the game for you. Above all, this game requires patience. You won't be hunting huge creatures when you first start...and it does get off the a slow start. However, aside from hunting and killing things, you forage for materials to make your own potions, make new items to aid in your quests, and ultimately, bits and pieces of those creatures you vanquish go to upgrade your weapons and armor.

You also have a farm to manage. This farm, as you progress, you can upgrade it to produce more materials, which you can use in your hunts. Your house has a kitchen which you can have staff make you meals, which can either have harmful or beneficial effects (thus far, it's just guesswork to me which is which, but it adds variety to the game).

There is no story, so this definitely is not an RPG like you're probably used to. But there are different environments, which require different tactics (you need cool drinks for the desert during the day for example). There are different weapons, some of which are melee-based, others are missile-based. You can set traps and use bombs in addition. There is no lock-on, which I think goes with the story, but others think it brings the game down.

My advice, try the demo. If you like what you see, then you should go for it. This is a deep experience that should not be missed.
