I was so excited for Monopoly. We'd been debating buying it for a long time and finally, because they didn't have it used, bought it new for 30 USD. Worst waste of money ever.

The first thing you notice about Monopoly is that it doesn't try. In the old PC games they would present cute and sometimes funny animations of the pieces moving across the board. No such luck. Just a frozen piece hopping along. In the board games they always use different, funny illustrations for the Chance and Community Chest cards that represent the style board you are using and the purpose of the card you selected. None here, just the same Monopoly man looking out at you.

So far the boards I have unlocked are Future, Sweets, Cheeses, etc. I was expecting some of their famous boards, like Star Wars or the Simpsons.

We were confused by the placement of countries on the World board. They didn't put any thought into it at all and just sprinkled the destinations around haphazardly. You'll see if you play (which you shouldn't). Heck, even in the board version, Pokemon Monopoly, at least they grouped the Pokemon by the type, water, grass, etc.

Now, you'll see I chose HARD for the difficulty. This is because if you are playing with the AI they are completely unfair about trading with you, no matter how much you offer, while they'll give the other AI opponents endless monopolies for a quick 50.

There is no way to play with less than 4 human and disable the extra AI.

The game is also occasionally glitchy. Playing on the World board, an opponent landed on my space and was supposed to pay me millions. I was not awarded any money and on my next turn I landed on a bad space and had to go bankrupt, which I wouldn't have had to do if the computer awarded me the money I was due.

As far as the sound goes, the music is not up to par and quite annoying. The Monopoly man makes the same comments 5 million and 2 times. He won't shut up and there is no way to shut him up or shut the music off. No options at all.

On the plus side.. Richest is a fun addition to the game though the mini games can become repetitive. This is Monopoly without the mess, clean up, or someone having to be the banker.

Wait til a big price drop, and even then, buy this one used so you can return it.
