I was actually excited when I heard this game was finally coming out in the States. I'd already heard that that the game engine was a prototype for Encounters in Space, which I enjoyed. But, this game is not Encounters in Space by a longshot. The polygon models are crude, the 2D art is blurry, which is totally unexcusable on a PS2. I might have overlooked this on a PSX title. And then, the play control. When the game isn't suffering from slowdown, you find yourself trying to keep up with bad camera work and complete lack of depth perception. For instance, in the desert stage while fighting BuCue's (that are supposed to be running on the ground), if you are far away from them, it appears as if they are running in the sky. The environments are hideous bitmaps stretched farther than they should be over bad polygons. (especially in that desert stage)
Also, I was expecting to hear some music from Gundam Seed in this game that I enjoyed while watching the Anime, but that's missing too.
I would steer clear of this game unless you find it in a $5 clearance bin. Even then, only pick it up if you want to have a Gundam game just for the sake of having it. You won't enjoy it.
