Keeps getting better and better

User Rating: 9.5 | MLB 11: The Show PS3
This years MLB 11 The Show blows away previous additions by leaps and bounds. Several new features have been added, most notably, the Pure Analog Batting, Pitching, and Fielding. Pure Analog control utilizes the right thumbstick and its fairly simple, unlike the MLB 2K's method.

For Batting, simply press back on the stick to start your stride, then push forward for your swing. If you press the O Button before the pitch, you can initiate a contact swing when you go for the swing with the right analog, and if you hit the Square button, then your player will go for a power swing.

Pitching has you pull back on the right analog to start the windup, and pushing forward initiates the delivery. If you dont push the analog stick straight up with the delivery, the ball will move either left or right, depending on which way you angle the analog stick up.

Fielding also can utilize the right analog stick if you want more of a challenge. If you do not like the Pure Analog Control, there is an option to use the buttons instead for Batting, Pitching, and Fielding.

Asides from the new control scheme, there is a new Camera Editor, which lets you edit the Batting and Pitching views, which is nice. You can even select from all 30 MLB Franchise broadcast views, each with a different angle.

All jumbotrons/scoreboards have been re-designed to replicate there real life counterparts. The lighting has been improved big time. The skies transition nicer from dusk to evening.

The online play is slightly better this year, but still suffers from lag. Im not sure if this game will ever be lag free even in future editions. Couple of things that i was expecting this year were controlable retractable roofs, such as Miller Park, Minute Maid Park, Rogers Centre, and Safeco Field.

I also hoped that downloadable rosters would be able to be used after starting a Franchise, but once again, it looks like anytime you download a roster update online, you will have to start your Season or Franchise over again.

I have not tried RTTS(Road To The Show)yet, but will eventually. I also do not own the playstation move, which can be used for the Home Run Derby. The game can be played in 3D, granted you have the equipment.

If you have ever owned any of the previous MLB The Shows, I hightly recommend getting this years edition. Glad the series finally decided to try analog Batting Pitching and Fielding.
