Good baseball sim--but it's not MVP Baseball.

Most of the fun in this game comes from the franchise mode. There's nothing better than taking your favorite team and dominating with them for 10 years(Yankees, Mets, Angels), building them into a championship-calibre team from nothing(Royals, Natonals), or starting from scratch with your own team(fantasy draft). Buying vendors and field upgrades and seat additions are lots of fun while sometimes annoying after a while. Online play lags, not a great community on the PS2--PS3 might be different what with PSN--online leagues could have been finished better.
My main beef with this game is that it is NOT MVP Baseball, which was considered by most, including me, to be the best Baseball franchise--however short-lived. Every baseball game I play from here on out will be compared with MVP Baseball, so everything will seem like a disappointment. Overall, though, MLB 07: The Show is a good game that could last you throughout the season.
