I guess I haddn't realized just how lame most of these games were going to seem after all this time :-) Joust is still fun, and probably the best reason to have the collection. The menuing system created for the compilation is really annoying, and quitting out of a game back to the menu is tedious. While the games support the use of the analog stick for control, the menu system doesn't so you have to keep switching from one to the other. Mstly these will only be problems when exploring each of the games quickly which you'll only do when you first get the game, but this is first-impression time and it left me without a lot of desire to spend time with many of the games. Several of the games seem to suffer from conversion of the original analog controls into digital ones (even using the analog stick, some things that should be continuous are discreet jumps). Spy Hunter is a good example. Gauntlet includes a cheat that lets you simply hit the button to the right of the fire button to add huge chunks of health. I guess the game was just too hard without this (the controls seem to make it unusually hard to point in obvious directions like up/down/left/right to shoot at streams of things coming at you). There are some interesting history/trivia texts and some mini-video-interview clips, but not for all games. I found the Joust and Joust II information interesting for example. Even at its under $20 list price I would only recommend this title to someone who really wants one or more of the included games, and then only with the caution that it might not play the way you remember it due the the poor control conversion. When it (probably shortly) shows up as a $9.99 discount title, then it's probably worth it just for Joust and the history/trivia info.
