No Ford? Otherwise PERFECT!

User Rating: 9.8 | Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix (Platinum Hits) XBOX
Are there things they could improve opon? Yes, as is the case with any game, All the more important points are accounted for though. This is technically my review for DUB edition, but Remix only improves on an already solid game. If you have original DUB edition and still use it then YES it IS worth it to trade for this! If you have'nt played either yet then there is QUITE a bargain waiting for you here. I bought Need For Speed Carbon a few days ago [for original Xbox] and It really only managed to bold out what I LOVE so MUCH about Midnight Club 3. When NFS Underground 2 came out just a few months before Dub Edition I held out, then it was delayed I bought a pre-order and continued to hold out, then in may the day came and I got there just in time to take the display copy cause they apparently overlooked my hold on a copy >.< but it was all good, it was all GREAT. The little things that Make this game so complete are what wins my loyalty away from need for speeds. when you pause in game, the WHOLE menu is there for you, not just "restart & quit" like many games. If you need to reposition a button, there's a CUSTOM OPTION, no preset crap!, and There's a handling tweaker available from free cruise mode, just pause adjust and try it out, no going back to the garage for every little adjustment. There's a race editor for you to set your own waypoints, one thing I love of Midnight Clubs over NFS is the freedom to find your own way without closed off roads and arrow barriers, and the roads seem alot clearer and more open for a way long drift around a corner. Its WAY arcadey by the way, so if your in for a simulator go look at forza, but if you just want to style your ride and go stupid fast THIS is your game. As for customization, its all about the look not the tuning, for performance you just upgrade to a "better stage of part" then you edit the appearance. Body kits for many cars, but it was a drag that exotics can't have body mods only rim changes. Muscle/Classic Cars all have nice unique pieces for each of them, Tuners use the same set of bodykits but its the paint and any vinyls you choose that really set things apart. In paint you got Gloss/Matte/Metallic/Pearlesant/and Color Shift which is a pearlesant sort of thing where you layer 3-5 colors over top of each other and they'll show depending on the light shining. The vinyls are alright but you can only have one, no layering, which is absolutely FINE by my standards, I hate when NICE paint jobs are fumbled by a mess of tacky tear and lightning vinyls all over. If customization is your thing Carbon and Midnight Club will do quite well to satisfy, however Carbon will not then really allow you to ever SEE your newly beautified ride in action, as there's no replay, or even online [for PS2 and original Xbox]. MC3 will allow you to at any point in a race, Pause and spin around the camara to look at your fancy new detailing in the midst of action, as well as show full replays of even the longest of free roams, AND MC3 HAS Online, even though I never even use it, what does THAT tell you!? Out since May '05 and I STILL play it alone without online to keep its replay alive! this game has DEFINITE REPLAY value! Its got Tuners, Sports Cars, Luxury Cars, Muscle/Classic, Sport Bikes, Choppers, SUVs, Exotics. My best friend is a BIG fan of sport bikes, and says so far this is the most fun sport bike game he's ever found, he's annoyed this never came out for PC since he doesnt have any current gen consoles. This Game Just leaves All need for speeds in the dust so far back it's amazing. The main flaws here? No Ford? which would also leaves out Lincoln,BMW,Jaguar,Aston Martin, and Mazda. also no official ferrari or porsche, but there are some "Gemballa" fake versions of a Porsche, and a 355 ferrari in remix. also a Saleen SR which is obviously a mustang with a WEIRD supra-ish front end. The amount of cars NOT overlooked well outweighs the absence of one major car corporation that REALLY fowled up in missing the boat for this one. Then came March '06 to celebrate it becoming a greatest/platinum hit they ADDED stuff! how AWESOME of them. A Load of vehicles including my favorite addition the DIABLO! also a chevelle, Scion TC, Cobolt, 2 classic Caddie's and some infinitys and some bikes, more I forgot just so MANY. Downside? You may only have 30 cars in your garage at once, in a game with about 80 thats somewhat harsh, but I usually don't mind losing a few I havent used in a while, I'll just buy'em again later. the only thing NFS games have on the Midnight Clubs is the Police AI, Most Wanted/Carbon Cops are smart and a good amount realistic, while midnight clubs are just cartoonish in movements, we coined the phrase "rubberband cops" cuase of how it's like they are rubberbanded to your rear bumper, if they crash they some how POP out of the collision and right up behind you, I actually caught them many times chasing me SIDEWAYS and keeping up!? You Nitro and they get CLOSER, then after awhile lose interest and stop tailing you for awhile, so the cops were definitely just retarded in this game, and they're only present in scripted positions randomly in waypoint races, none in cruise mode, also only meant as an obstacle so your not gonna get arrested. Another downside here, you may want to have a patient friend around if your an easily angered gamer, cuase some of the races can get impossible crazy, and don't count on ANY respect from competition, they don't care about their paint jobs, they all fight dirty, everyman for himself so if you want to win, you have to be willing to draft someone and push them out into a wall, Do onto others as they WILL do onto you. After these races are behind you and the game is 100% and then 110% with completion of tokyo in remix, there's still PLENTY of content to keep YOU content for a good long while. If ANYbody is a fan of race games and Has'nt checked THIS out yet, its at an amazing price now for SO MUCH, go pick this up now!
