Short but sweet work of art.

User Rating: 8.7 | Metroid: Zero Mission GBA
Metroid: Zero Mission is a short, but a quality remake of the very first Metroid, which debuted in NES more than 20 years ago. This game is a work of art.

You play as interstellar bounty hunter Samus Aran, who lands on planet Zebes in order to exterminate the space pirate presence on the planet and to wipe out the Metroids, who are floating jellyfish-like creatures and their life-sucking properties threaten the galaxy. If you played the original game there will be many sections you remember, but luckily there are some new additions as well.

Graphical style is taken from SNES Super Metroid and they look good on GBA. Colors are bright and details are what you might expect from a 2D Metroid. Sound effects are those familiar bleeps and bloops as before, but still much better than they were in the original Metroid.

In Metroid Games the core thing has always been collecting new items to Samus’ armor and in Zero Mission there are a lot more abilities to obtain than there were in the original Metroid. The more abilities you gain the more easy the game itself becomes and in the end planet Zebes’s inhabitants will not pose a threat to you anymore. Everyone probably remembers that there was just a gigantic world to explore and no map what so ever in the original Metroid. Fortunately now there is a map and it’s a good one as well. All of this makes the game pretty easy and it will take somewhere around 6 to 8 hours to finish it.

Metroid: Zero Mission is a short but very sweet experience and you will relish every second of it. This game is a work of art.
