Metroid Prime Trilogy Review for Wii

User Rating: 10 | Metroid Prime Trilogy WII
For anyone whose never played the Metroid series, This trilogy is the perfect place to start. Not only does Trilogy offer an excellent deal, it also is one of the greatest games of all time! If not the greatest Wii game. Before you decide to read other reviews, something yoou should know is that the Prime's are becoming more valuable and much more expensive.

The bundle offers three amazing games. For around $50.00-$120.00 you get all three Prime's on one disk. Some new features to the Prime series is that the controls have all been updated for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Just like in Corruption, you now have access to credits. You can spend them at the main menu by completing certain requirements. The nice addition to the series is that you can now save your credits and use them for any version.

Needless to say, the collector's edition is just amazing! Not only do you get the game, but you also get an art book by Retro Studios. It's full of art renders from the game and is highly detailed. Retro Studios is an amazing company, mostly known for their beautiful art work, as well as their dedication to the game industry.

You'll most likely end up playing Metroid Prime 1 which makes sense. You start off landing on a mysterious space station. This gives you your first impression to the Metroid series. Don't let the game's atmosphere give you a wrong impression, the Metroid series has a dark feel to it and you should get used to it.

The Metroid series is not an easy one! It may be a FPS but that's stereotypical. It is a Sci-fi FPS combined with exploration and well crafted puzzles. As i don't want to spoil anything, i'll keep my review simple.

Next are the controls, they've been much improved thanks to the Wii's technology. If you've played Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, you'll immediately adjust to the controls. The "A" button is to fire, "Z" to lock-on to an enemy, and "C" to turn into Morph Ball Mode, which shifts to the 3rd person view.

After you beat the opening sequence, you will land down on the planet Tallon IV. Soon you will notice that there are vast amounts of jungle, followed by rain. But do not let the setting get to you, it's actually one of the most peaceful regions in the game.

I'm assuming that if you have never played the series in your life, you will most definitely become overwelmed. When you first beat the opening sequence, you will lost most of your power-ups, which consist of missiles, morph ball bombs, the charge beam and a few others.

Suprisingly, instead of getting upset you will be happy, as now you don't have as many items to figure out. This is a good approach for new gamers since they will develope a sense of ambition in finding them again. Obtaining each power-up is a better idea than having the player discover what they do all at once.

As you progress through the game, you will run into puzzle elements that are bound to trip you up. This is one of the series most important aspects.
