Great sequel with some new stuff!!

User Rating: 8.5 | Metroid Prime 2: Echoes GC
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is a great ADVENTURE game in first person perspective (not FPS).

As most of u should know, u play the role of the bounty hunter Samus Aran, this time , you are sent to a planet called Aether, looking for some missing galactic federation ship or whatever.

The particularity of this planet is that there r two dimensions, the light one and the dark one (Dark Aether), due to some meteor crashed years ago, bringing not only dark aether but also a hostile race of dark creatures called the "Ing" with it. By the time samus arrived, the ing have almost won the war against the creatures of Light Aether, The Luminoth, by draining most of the energy of the temples in the light dimension. Besides the ing u encounter the space pirates once again.

The gameplay is exactly the same as it was in Metroid Prime:

A: shoots beam(s)
B: jump
Y: fires missile(s)
X: switch to morph ball and normal mode
Z: Display map
R: aim freely
L: Lock on targets

Also u have four beams and four visors that help u explore the planet an advance through it. This is precisely the core of the game, exploration and solving puzzles, thats why i say this is not and FPS, if u r expecting a run n' shoot like halo or call of duty, then stay away from this game, because its not similiar, in fact, its the opposite.

What i love/hate about this game is that most of the time u DONT KNOW where to go, or where to get the weapon or item that'll help u continue. ive seen other reviews complaining about this and the backtracking, and i sometimes was frustrated because of it, but hey, the game was meant to be like that, so theres no point in complaining about it.

Of course, the puzzles and exploration doesnt mean there is no action, theres a lot of action, too, if not, why would u need missiles and four beams??? xDD This time theres also a lot of boss battles, in fact, theres a boss battle for each new ability u acquire during the game, for example, morph ball, double jump, morph ball bomb, etc. and they're all really cool and fun to fight.

Visually it is good, very detailed and really gives the atmosphere that u r alone in a rare and dangerous planet, sound and music its ok too.

Overall, if u have played the first Metroid Prime adn like it, ull definitely like this too, because it is almost the same with some new additions and if u havent i recommend to rent it first i u like adventures that make u think a little with some frenetic shootin action. =)
