Had it not been for a forced install of Steam I would have scored this game higher.

User Rating: 8.5 | Metro 2033 PC
As usual with any Steam game it can take up to an hour to actually install the game and crawl through the settings to disable the 'always keep updated' garbage. But once you've done that the game is a real gem.

Spooky environments, interesting pit stops, varied enemies and story driven Metro 2033 doesn't disappoint. The game never feels stagnant or old. You never feel bored, the games story and level design always keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The voice acting is brilliant and overall the sound really gives you the creeps. You really feel like you're living in a post apocalyptic Russia. Environments and graphics are beautifully crafted and A+ for ambiance. Weapon movement isn't as smooth as some other FPS games but somehow it does work.

I'm very happy I purchased this title; it's great with a pretty good amount of playing time. Set on hardcore the game can be quite challenging in some places. Some clipping and poor lip syncing in places as well as out of proportion geometry appear here and there but mostly it's hardly noticeable.

There were one or two things which didn't work well such as the purchasing of weapons and armour / stealth. The ending is also a little abrupt.

Graphics: 9
Sound: 9
Gameplay:8.5
Story: 9

Other: It was a shame the ending was a little vague and the build up somewhat poor in comparison to the rest of the game otherwise it was a great game. Sadly you are forced to use Steam...again
