Metro 2033 is great game with so much potential and well a few....quirks. JUST THE BAD STUFF REVIEW.

User Rating: 8.5 | Metro 2033 X360
The game is great. Every review will tell you about how great the story is, I am not doing that other than saying it is a perfect story for a linear FPS. This is just a review of why I gave it an 8.5 rather than 10.

So the issues for me were, Audio, Autosave, Level design, AI and Glitches.

For Audio, it was very hit and miss for me pertaining to depth. For example, how far away someone was compared to how loud they were talking/moving. In the Metros everyone was so loud in the cramped space and everyone was speaking at once that I could not tell who was talking to me. It seems kinda dumb but when you need to hear information to trigger a flash (flashes signal you have heard an important piece of story) and you are not sure who it is coming from. The audio range is also a problem when you are sneaking around and have no clue how far or close you are to an enemy.

Autosave/Level design together are another issue I had. First level design was pretty good, with some issues on the platforming portions. The game is dark, I fell numerous times. The biggest issue I had was with autosave on some levels. I would go through one particular level and accidently alert an enemy at the top of some stairs. Well the autosave saved right during that and I was boxed in a small room with 4 enemies trying to fight my way out. Autosave punished me a few times during the game.

The issues I had with AI/Glitches was just stuff like enemies having bad animations and at certain points in the game freezing in place. I had major frame rate slowdown during some battles. Sometimes when I picked up weapons the one I dropped would disappear. Quick time event nonsense, stuff like that.

Overall Metro 2033 did so many things well and honestly neat. With the quirks it deserves an 8, because of the way the story was told I gave it an 8.5.
