A fun challenging game, that takes me back to my contra days

After playing Contra 3 on the snes I never thought any more side scroller shooters could come close to it, then I played this and I loved it, so I bought it. The game may appear short but you will spend a very long trying to beat it. The game starts you off just shooting giant crabs and soliders, then moves to zombies, some abdominal snowmen, then you kill plants and big flying bug guys, etc. There is a bunch of enemies to fight and you get a bunch of guns to shoot them with, also I enjoy how you must tap the X button rather than hold it down, I find it adds more intensity while fighting a boss or a horde of enemies. Also if you get touched by an enemy you dont die and when you get close you can knife people. There is one main boss per level except the last level where you fight a **** load of bosses. This is a must-play got side scrolling fans. The first 4 stages are a bit tricky at first but once you get use to them you can fly through them. So after Stage 4 you think you are the man, then the game smacks you in the face with Stage 5, this place could have been broken up to make like 3 more stages, it is insane I never beat it I'm not gonna lie, I will tell you how far I got, (**Dont read on if you dont want to hear about Stage 5**). You start off by picking between a jet and a helicopter, if you are in co-op you can get both, then you are flying around shooting jets and guys on parachutes, then u go close to the ground shoot them more people, fight some blimps with rockets and all that, then you fight a boss, who is on some armoured blimp, you kill him then get out of your ship, and walk on to fight some soldiers then you get to another boss who is in a helicopter, kill him and he is really an alien so jump in a rocket and head into space, shoot more aliens and asteroids, and fight some bigger stronger enemies then you fight another boss, its like a laser gun thing, then you get in the ship and you have to fight all these eye things and there are random big walls blocking your way, pretty sure there is no boss here, then you finally actually get into the alien ship, you shoot aliens and these big robots that shoot rings that you jump through or find where they are coming up and stand in the middle, then you come to a big red spider robot mini-boss thing, that has aliens shooting you while it shoots these annoying red bubbles that follow a pattern you have to learn, then you continue for a bit and fight another big gay red spider-bot while I died there but I was playing solo if you and your friend stick with it you will beat it, I haven't played it much after there that damn spider-bot pissed me off so much.
