If you're not looking for major changes, Twin Snakes is an excellent way to revisit an old classic.

There's not a whole lot to say here if you've already played the original Metal Gear Solid. Twin Snakes is exactly the same game in almost every way. It has the same great story telling and the same great characters. Unfortunately, with the exception of the addition of first person aiming, it also has the same gameplay. Metal Gear Solid may have been great gameplay in 1998, but in 2004 it's just average. What has changed here are the graphics. The entire game has been given a complete facelift. Due to the top down view in the game, you don't really get to appreciate this all that much while playing. The place where it really shows up though are the cutscenes. The Metal Gear Series is known for nothing if not being cinematic, and Twin Snakes is no exception. All of the the cutscenes are done in-engine and look spectacular. The thing that really sticks out to you is the animation. Everyone moves in such a lifelike way that it makes these scenes really enjoyable to just sit back and watch. Like the rest of the Metal Gear Series, Twin Snakes isn't for everyone. It's a pretty short game, I finished it in about 8 hours, and you'll spend just as much time watching the game as playing it. The story is pretty convoluted and philosophical too, although not near as much as Sons of Liberty. My biggest gripe about the game is Liquid. He's just way too long winded. All in all though, If you enjoy a game that can tell a good story, or just want to revisit an old classic, then Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is worth your time and money.
